SUPER DUPER QUICK UPDATE (before I go back into the land of sorrow and woe…) April 29, 2014

Okay guys, I am about to do the QUICKEST UPDATE EVER.

Unless it ends up not being so quick..then yeah.

1) I finished reading The Red Badge of Courage and writing my over a thousand word literary analysis essay on it (THANK YOU SO MUCH HEAVENLY FATHER I LOVE YOU)

2) Now I have my honors projects book….A Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court (I ALWAYS spell that state wrong >.>) then I have to write a freaking essay on that (crap I hate being in honors courses sometimes….THIS BETTER NOT COME BACK TO HAUNT ME IN COLLEGE)

3) I still have some math offline work to turn in for math (woo hoo)

4) The late due date deadline is next sunday (*CRIES CRIES CRIES CRIES CRIES*)

5) I haven’t posted anything in like…forever…

6) Camp NaNoWriMo died. Literally. Okay, well not literally…but you know what I mean. BUT ON THE BRIGHT SIDE I was able to help somebody else with their novel (YOU’RE WELCOME NIKKI)!

7) I know I’m forgetting some school assignment…I just don’t know what….but I will for real be JUST. FINE. RIGHT after I turn in that literature essay.

Stupid freaking essay.

8) I have to miss this going to a spring formal because I thought it was on saturday…but it isn’t….it’s on friday…and this lady asked me to babysit from 5-10 and I figured, oh, I’m not doing anything on friday…SURE!! :D

………………………………………………………..stupid dance.

9) AT THIS POINT I THINK I’LL JUST CRY NOW.

Not literally though. I kinda feel better now…because I realized the source of my problem is that book/ essay.

MARK TWAIN, YOU BETTER BE GLAD YOU’RE NOT ALIVE RIGHT NOW, OR I’D BE FLOODING YOUR FAN MAIL BOX WITH NOT-SO-FAN-ISH MAIL .____.

So yup…there’s actually more stuff, but like I said, this is a QUICK update…so LATER PEEPS

Sixteen is an Overrated Age April 21, 2014

I agree with this. Especially about the adults being horrible (KIDDING, Love you mommy <3).
And I'm just saying, but being 16 really is overrated (I turned this magical number in December). I think the best parts is that when you go read stuff, everybody's the same age. Being this old actually makes me wish I was younger…because now, you can't take a beginners karate class without being judged (either by old 34 year olds or young 5 year olds).

The Little Engine that Couldn't

I’ve never done the daily prompt for The Daily Post, but I think I’ll give it a try today, with the prompt being, “Tell us all about the person you were when you were sixteen. If you haven’t yet hit sixteen, tell us about the person you want to be at sixteen.”

I have yet to turn sixteen, which may surprise everyone, considering how super mature I am. I’ll be turning 16 in May, and I could picture myself now, in little over a month.

Obviously, I’ll be driving my totally bitchin’ new car to school each day, (a convertible!), with the top down no matter what the weather. Because weather ain’t a problem for those who need four separate hands to count their age.

I’ll probably have grown five to ten inches by this point (16-year olds are tall), and I’ll be sporting a magnificent beard for all to…

And This Is Why I Don’t Write Professionally April 8, 2014

One day, I’m going to write a book that’s SO not cliche, it’ll be cliche-ish.

I’ll re-do Shakespeare’s Twelfth (HOW COME THAT’S SO HARD TO SPELL) Night. Viola will fall in love with the Duke person/Orisino, but after everybody figures out who she really is, the lady person/Olivia will be so heart-broken that she isn’t a boy, that she’ll command the creeper guy that somehow thinks he has a chance with Olivia/ Malvolio to burn her alive and to dump her ashes in the river. Which of course he’ll do because he can’t say NO. Then, Orisino will find out what Olivia did and Sebastian will be sentenced to death by sting rays that are for some reason kept below Orisino’s throne place, and he’ll die. Then Viola will be tied to a boat, and then archers will set her boat on fire with fire-arrows, and she’ll burn to death aroooound the same place that Olivia’s ashes were dumped, and THEN Orisino will find out that he just killed all the main characters/ everyone he loves, THEN HE’LL DO SOME REALLY SHORT DIALOGUE AND STAB HIMSELF! IT’LL BE BEAUTIFUL.

My Brain Is Currently All Over The Place

And by all over the place, I mean ALL over the place.

1) Okay, so remember how I told you that I was going to raise sponsors, and how much fun it would be.

….Yeahhhh, now I know why nobody ever gets into pageants. Darn $500.

2) PROM IS THIS WEEKEND! And I don’t have a jacket/sweater thingy to go with my dress yet…

3) DUDE, I’M ALMOST IN FREAKING COLLEGE WHERE HAS ALL THE TIME GONE!? I mean, I still have until next year…BUT STILL.

4) I keep forgetting I still need to get money for Girls Camp. For real.

5) STUPID STUPID FRENCH

6) This is the conversation I had with my teacher this morning. Work for word.

Teacher: Hello Kirsten. How can I help you today?
Me: Hi Mrs. Davis :D I wanted to talk to you about the 6.07 Assignment.
Teacher: Ok
Me: Okay, so, it says in the instructions that it needs to be 600-650 words long, but I think that that’s too long. If the point is to make this an online article, people won’t want to read something that’s that long. The original story is only, 450-ish words long, and newspaper stories that are online are generally shorter than the ones that are published in an actual newspaper
AND we’re still supposed to be deleting sentences. I know we’re supposed to add some too, but that’d still keep it at about 500 words.
Sooo yup. I think it should be shorter.
*are generally shorter than the ones that are published in an actual newspaper
Teacher: Hi Kirsten – please follow the directions. Part of the challenge of writing an online story is to keep the reader engaged by making it interesting. Do the best you can, but make sure you follow the directions.
Me: But the point is to make this as real and authentic as possible, right? It won’t be as real if the online article is longer than the print-out version. Shouldn’t it at least be the same length? I mean, take Wikipedia for example…that’s a condensed version of a bunch of different information from other stories and websites.
Teacher: I’m sorry you don’t agree with the lesson requirements, but if you want maximum points, you have to follow and meet them. Like I said, just do your best and try to make it as engaging and interesting as possible.

…Come on, tell me that wasn’t an amazing argument.

7) My own sisters don’t want me (or my other sister/their other older sister) at their skating rink party. WHERE IS THE LOVE/I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT I DID/ I DIDN’T EVEN DO ANYTHING YET D:

8) Stupid French…

9) I TOTALLY SHOULD’VE GOTTEN A 100% ON MY HISTORY PAPER. I got a 90, and that’s great and all…BUT STILL.

10) Dylan hasn’t emailed me back yet…

11) Josh hasn’t texted me back yet…

12) I’m running out of minutes on my phone, and I need to buy more, but COME ON PEOPLE I HAVE OTHER STUFF I NEED TO BUY TOO

13) Dex and Chazz haven’t emailed me back yet…

14) Google hasn’t had a picture thingy on its main page for forever D:

15) HOW COME EVERY TIME I TRY TO DO A NANOWRIMO THING, I FAIL D:

And that, ladies and gentleman, is my random list of woes that I thought of just now.

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

P.S. OH OH OH BUT IN GOOD NEWS, the guy I like sat next to me. And today’s his half birthday. And he probably doesn’t know it but THAT’S OKAY ‘CAUSE I STILL FELT SPECIAL DEEP INSIDE. Okay. I’m good now.

230. My brain is open April 2, 2014

300 stories

“My brain is open,” the man at the door said.

He was a queer-looking fellow, fifty years old, sixty perhaps, in a shabby brown overcoat, carrying nothing but a tatty suitcase. After ringing the doorbell once, without anyone answering, he had rung once more and after that – in sequential order – two times, three, five and eight, until Heinrich had begrudgingly opened the door in his pyjamas.

“My brain is open,” the man repeated.

He sure didn’t look like he had an open brain. Confused, now thàt Heinrich would have bought. Eccentric? Absolutely. But open? No.

“And how would that benefit me?” Heinrich yawned.

The man at the door glanced at the torn piece of paper in his hand, then at the house number, and at the paper again.

“This is Friedrichstrasse number twelve?”

“It is.”

“And you are Heinrich Schmetterling, professor of advanced mathematics at the Heidelberg University?”

Camp NaNoWriMo (and how I’m kind of cheating, but not really)

It’s that time of year again, guys. Time to bring out you pens/ pencils/ paper/ notebooks/ coffee/ tea/ water/ OJ/ lemonade/ typewriters/ laptops/ keyboards/ …I don’t know, gift cards? and START WRITING.

Again.

Seems like just a few months ago, I was trying, then deciding not too, then deciding too, then failing at the regular NaNoWriMo.

Oh sweet memories…

But in ACTUAL GOOD NEWS I GO-

Oh yeah…I didn’t explain the title yet. Okay, so I was SUPPOSED to start writing whatever I’m supposed to be writing yesterday, but my laptop charger broke, so then I could no longer charge my computer…so I couldn’t use it for a 2 days…

IT WAS TERRIBLE I TELL YOU. TERRIBLE.

But I survived. So I’m okay.

But anyways, I went on to check my account, and there were like, 30 camper messages from people saying hi. 45 hours after I said hi. Cabin-mates suck sometimes, you guys. I’m just saying. So THEN, I went on and put that I wrote 1,435 words today.

Now this is kind of a lie…but not really. I didn’t actually physically sit down and type up that many words and decided to dedicate it to NaNoWriMo. No, what I decided to do was edit a story that I had kinda sorta started a little bit, and see how far I got with it. So TECHNICALLY, since I had to do all the work and search for a grand total of 30 seconds for the document, that can count as my writing time. Besides, I’m going to go edit it some today anyways. And THAT counts as working.

…Right?

And besides, it’s not like I don’t have that many words and I totally lied…

Okay, moving on.

P.S. DON’T COMMENT AND MAKE ME FEEL GUILTY ABOUT THIS.

Okay, now for not rambling actual GOOD news.

I GOT ACCEPTED TO BE A STATE FINALIST TO COMPETE FOR MISS KANSAS TEEN THROUGH NATIONAL AMERICAN MISS OH MY GOSH I’M SO EXCITEDDDDDDDDDD OH MY GOSHHHHHHH!!!!!

Only un problemo, mi amigo’s (and no, I’m not taking spanish…I’m taking french. Don’t ask)…there’s a sponsor fee. And I need half of it ($240) by before the end of the month. So I have to like, call people. REAL PEOPLE. LIKE, REAL REAL LIVE PEOPLE.

HOW AM I GOING TO DO THIS?!

Haha, I’m just kidding…I’m actually really excited about it. Even the getting sponsors part. I mean, this is a pageant with a purpose. They don’t do the swimsuit modeling part, and you don’t even have to model at all if you don’t want too. You learn interviewing skills, you learn how to confidently walk and talk in front of a live audience with lots of people, you can practice your talent, and win awards for it, you do community service…it’s awesome. Getting the sponsors should be REALLY fun after I figure out what I’m supposed to say. If I can make it to state finals, I can talk to a general manager. I mean, they’re not going to like, bite me…right? They’ll just sit there and listen and look at the brochure and talk with me and tell me yes or no! I mean, I’m ALREADY a people person. It’s why I like downtown so much. And why I never ever EVER want to live on the farm. Or too far into the country. We could have a 2 million dollar mansion, but if it were too far away from civilization, I’d go rent a bungalow or something.

Okay, the mansion part miiight not be completely accurate…but you get the point.

In other OTHER good news, WE’RE DOING FOOD SCULPTING TONIGHT AHHH I’M SO EXCITEDDDDD!!!!

Wow, I get excited REALLY easily… But I guess that’s a good thing. I mean, cause when I get a boyfriend (AHAHAHAHHAHA THAT’S FUNNY! I mean…*ahem*, keep reading), he’ll always be happy cause I’ll just be happy to see him all the time!

But flowers are still good. Oooooh or chocolate. You can never EVER have enough of that.

Like, ever.
